The View from Her 'Corner': A Children's Publishing Columnist on 20 Years of Industry Change. This was really fascinating. It's so strange to think of how Harry Potter might've brought about the focus on crossover novels, and how, from there the trend went to comics and other things, and how, still 20 years later, people don't consider children's novels of "real" literary value.

The Sweet Valley High novels, among others, were the training bras of literature.
Young adult books and sex: What we learned under the covers. Some of those aren't actually young adult novels... but the Sweet Valley High series is mentioned again, and I kind of feel like I need to read those some day soon just to understand the hype.
Is It Science Fiction? The problem I have with some of the articles that are cited as justification for sci-fi is that those are the articles that make it into the news. Inevitably that means they've been sensationalized, so using them to create even more fictitious works... argh. #grumpyscientist.

Vampire Academy is getting released a week early. The release date is now Feb. 7th! Here are two new clips: Trust and Last Stand. (I wonder if those were the sneak peaks/the exclusive new trailer?) And here are some new stills of Sarah Hyland (Natalie), & other stills... And the soundtrack will be available for purchase on Feb. 11th.
Unfortunately for UK VA fans, the release date has been pushed back to April 23rd.
So, I haven't read Love, Rosie, but it's apparently being made into a movie with Lily Collins and here are a few stills. According to Goodreads, it's not actually YA, but it looks like it could fit with New Adult...?
Apparently they screened The Fault in Our Stars and John Green and Ansel Elgort posted their reactions to seeing the film.
The Pronunciation of 'Smaug.' I haven't read Lord of the Rings or finished reading The Hobbit, but this amuses me. I love that we book lovers can get so hung up on these details :).
So, I haven't read Love, Rosie, but it's apparently being made into a movie with Lily Collins and here are a few stills. According to Goodreads, it's not actually YA, but it looks like it could fit with New Adult...?

Kristen Stewart's Starring in a Romantic Remake of 1984, and here's why it might not suck as much as you think it will. (...main update being, according to its director, that “it’s about love in a world where love really doesn’t exist anymore.”...) -- Does this not sound a tad bit like Delirium except now Equals is going to the big screen while Fox canceled its showing of Delirium?

Most Featured: Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi and Avalon by Mindee Arnett. I think I've seen these around more often because of their blog tours. I'm also thinking of getting rid of this section or revamping "most featured" to "books releasing this month." Something like that. What do you think?
Recent Recommended Reads: You can read my review of Cress (Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer (another thrilling blend of science fantasy, romance, and fairy tale adventure.). Also recently read Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Air, and House of Many Ways, and I must say I understand the Diana Wynne Jones hype. HMC's my favorite of the trilogy, and one of the books I'd pick to define me as a reader, and I'm now over two years late in mourning this particularly talented author's death. They're a little more middle grade oriented than what I usually read, but they're so much fun and the characters quirky and fantastic and wonderfully flawed. Reminds me of a younger version of The Raven Boys cast.
