Movies/TV Shows:

You have about one day left to vote in the first round for the 2014 MTV Movie Brawl. Some well-known YA adaptations are up there!

Mockingjayhas resumed filming in Atlanta. In other cool The Hunger Games news, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the first movie with a solo female lead to be the year's #1 film since The Exorcist. Woot, woot! (And some fans are speculating on where the moviemakers will split Mockingjay...)

With that mind, it seems like everyone wants to share in the success of the Hunger Games (e.g. Fox Takes James Frey’s ‘Endgame’ In Year’s First 7-Figure Deal With Google In The Mix, or at least that's what it's being marketed as...).

Universal Hires Jay Basu to Adapt 'Talon'(by Julie Kagawa - her new dragon series).

If I Stay now has a release date: August 22, 2014.

They've released two new stills from The Fault in Our Stars.

They released a bunch of different promotional photos for Vampire Academy, four new stills of Rose Hathaway/Zoey Deutch, and more stills of Rose and Dimitri training.

Three new stills from Divergent, an article, and a compilation of the previous photos.

Guess which of the listed movies made Sugarscape's top 14 books being adapted into movies in 2014 list.

If you've fallen behind on the news for the Fallen adaptation, Lauren Kate has a mini summary of what's been announced so far.

And here's the first movie poster for the Veronica Mars adaptation.

An extended trailer for The Flowers in the Attic was released.

This has nothing to do with YA movies/tv shows BUT DID YOU SEE?! The first Game of Thrones trailer for season 4. Ahhhh, I love the music they choose for those trailers. Anyone know who sings that song?

Other:

Most Featured: Evertrue by Brodi Ashton - a bunch of friends have been posting their reviews of or discussing the final installment in that trilogy. Hollow City by Ransom Riggs - how can they not discuss it when it's been a long time since the first was released and release day just happened? The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson - I've seen so many ads for this and I still haven't read a Laurie Halse Anderson novel o.o.

According to Goodreads, however, January 2014 belongs to: Red Rising by Pierce Brown, A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller, Uninvited by Sophie JordanCruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, and Afterparty by Ann Redisch Stampler.

Recent Recommended Reads: You can see my (actually) mini review for Avalon by Mindee Arnett (I know that this is also pitched to Firefly fans, but I would suggest giving it to more reluctant science fiction or action-oriented readers first.) or my mini review for Secret by Brigid Kemmerer (This may be my favorite of the series so far).

If we're Goodreads friends, you know that I've also been writing a bunch of reviews in the past couple of days, but I'll save those recommendations for future bookish rounds (and also, let me just say that you can talk to me about any title at any time). All those reviews mean that I am caught up through the first week of March for review request books and can *FINALLY* catch up with all of you (and other work I've neglected). When I saw that I hadn't replied to any of your comments since the end of October, I admit, I felt quite a bit intimidated. I knew that my enthusiasm for blogging had dimmed, but I hadn't realized just how many posts I'd neglected without comments o.o. I'm so sorry! It will be remedied without delay!

In other news, if any of y'all are looking for more features like CMtBR, here are some suggestions:

Publisher's Lunch - more oriented toward publishing (obviously); features announcements like new jobs, editorial moves, sales numbers, etc.
Cuddlebuggery's Buzzworthy News - these bloggers feature select articles in their news and summarize the important points with both humor and heart.
YA Highway's Field Trip Friday - more oriented toward the writing industry; features a lot of advice articles and musings posted by authors and writers alike.

Which articles did you like best? Did I miss any news? Did you host a cover reveal or discussion that I should have posted about? A giveaway? Leave the links, and I'll either edit this post or post about 'em next week.
