Christina Makes the Bookish Rounds is a feature that will let you know about recent MG/YA/NA book related news. I'll post about articles from the publishing industry, cover reveals, discussions from fellow bloggers, the latest tv/movie news, and giveaways that you're hosting. If you would like to follow along with cover reveals during the week, see my Pinterest.

Publishing:

**Podium Finish by Beth Pond (Fiction: New Adult | With six months until the Olympic Games, seventeen-year-old Harper's life is pretty much per-fect. more ...)

**Fighting for the Edge by Jennifer Comeaux (Fiction: New Adult | Two friends. Two dreams. One night that changes everything… Ice dancer Aubrey London scoffs at romance. more ...)

**The Alien Orphan and the Christmas Wedding. by Esther Joseph (Children's: Middle grade | An alien orphan hides on a New Jersey charity farm He discovers his Venus power belt can be energized with harmonica music which keeps him alive. more ...)

Not very many books to add this week! The last rights report Publisher's Weekly posted was for the week of December 16, so y'all have seen those books already in previous bookish rounds, and I don't have a Publisher's Marketplace log-in to find other deals. These were the only ones that were posted publicly. Next week, and the coming weeks now that the holidays are over, are likely to have a LOT of deals that were closed and held off for greater publicity though.

Wow, so Divergent really is the next "big" thing on the lines of Hunger Games, Twilight, etc. Now a number one USA Today Bestseller, and selling a lot more than other YA books.

Liking reading about other New Years Resolutions? Check out some from Epic Reads authors.

Were you stunned by the beautiful cover for Melissa de la Cruz's next novel? Well, here's an interview with her from Publisher's Weekly about TheRing and the Crown.

If you're a fan of Laurie Halse Anderson, here's an interview where she talks about her new book, The Impossible Knife of Memory.

Kate DiCamillo Named Next National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. You know what I love about these bookish rounds? I get to learn about things I didn't know existed, like an ambassador for Young People's Literature.

So, you remember that big fiasco about the lawyer who revealed JK Rowling = Robert Galbraith? Turns out he got fined pretty heavily...

Have you voted for the 2013 YABC Choice awards?

Cover Reveals:

Star of the Team - Beverly Stowe McClure
Wheels of Change - Darlene Beck Jacobson

Discussion/Other bloggers posts:

Hey, guess who won best YA boyfriend over at Hypable? I'll give you a hint: one of his lesser known (fake) names is Jet Steele.

Reading changes brain's connectivity. Doesn't surprise me, considering how plastic the brain is... but yay for more studies telling the world how awesome reading is ;).

20 Winter-themed YA books. It's really cool to note how even the covers match that assertion.

Marcus Sedgwick: 'Inspiration is everywhere.' Very, very true.

Kids' books change with the times. This makes me sad because if Harry Potter is being lent out less, well, say in 20 years, you could mention the series to someone young and they might not even recognize the name. It's strange thinking about your generation's big hits and how that doesn't follow through to others.

AKA: Children fall out of love with Harry Potter and Asterix (Books by JK Rowling and Roald Dahl are falling out of favour with children, a new study shows).

Top 10 YA books of 2013 from the Telegraph.

Closing The 'Word Gap' Between Rich And Poor. I hope the research leads to some fruitful projects.

The 21 Best YA Books Of 2013 from Buzzfeed.

Young Adult Sci-Fi That Will Get Readers Psyched About Science. I think the thing that's really cool about this article is that it's coming from a scientific standpoint (e.g. like thinking about the drugs that might make x and x possible).... even if I disagree with some of the points :).

Other:

Most Featured: Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill and Avalon by Mindee Arnett. I took Asti's suggestion about organizing my Feedly subscriptions (which was just getting out of hand and is still out of date / I need to add more blogs) and making sure I didn't miss any discussions... and there those two books were. Since I'll be returning to the blogosphere more fully this coming week, I'll probably be reading a bunch of the looking-forward-to-2014 posts; did y'all see any interesting reads that you're now anticipating?

Recent Recommended Reads: You can read my review of Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill (another fun, cute contemporary romance from Lauren Morrill). Other than that, I haven't gotten much reading done. I do know how to play saba' w nus (seven and a half, aka a cracked Lebanese version of blackjack) now though so clearly I have been doing something worthwhile ;).

Sorry for the delay! Some strange, unexpected things have been happening lately, and well, anyway, bookish rounds post will return to Wednesdays now that the holidays are over. Oh, and uh:

Happy New Year, you wonderful people!! :)

Which articles did you like best? Did I miss any news? Did you host a cover reveal or discussion that I should have posted about? A giveaway? Leave the links, and I'll either edit this post or post about 'em next week.
