Discussion/Other Blogger Posts:

Best books of 2013 from the BookRiot staff. Guess which YA books made the cut.

17 Reasons Why Vampire Academy: Blood Sister Is Going to Be Amazing. I showed the trailer to my friend who doesn't read YA and even she agreed that it was pretty good and Dan Waters knows what he's doing by marketing it that way. I wasn't a fan of the teaser trailer, but this trailer is much better.

Susan Cooper: libraries are the frontline in the war for the imagination.

Not just for kids: Young adult books are big sellers. It kind of irritates me to see posts like this, as if it's surprising that YA is successful, but they are bringing extra attention to YA so...

Other:

Most Featured: Pawn by Aimee Carter. It was released a while ago, but man I feel weird. I read an excerpt and didn't think that one was for me, but so many of my friends have read and loved it so what's going on? I'm fixating on the novel and how it keeps appearing for that reason.

Recent Recommended Reads: Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You about Being Creative by Austin Kleon. It was a birthday present from my best friend, and it's got some cool advice. It's kind of funny that it quotes from a writing professor who taught at my college too. But here's something for anyone who blogs: "Maybe your hero will see your work, maybe he or she won't. Maybe they'll respond to you, maybe not. The important thing is that you show your appreciation without expecting anything in return, and that you get new work out of the appreciation." (109). Another book I read recently was The Promise of Amazing, and my mini review will go up tomorrow, but it's not likely to be very favorable.

Sorry about the lateness of this post. And the lateness of the last bookish rounds. Sometimes the effort and time involved gets to me, and my occasionally waning enthusiasm for blogging shows in that way.

Which articles did you like best? Did I miss any news? Did you host a cover reveal or discussion that I should have posted about? A giveaway? Leave the links, and I'll either edit this post or post about 'em next week.
