Christina Makes the Bookish Rounds is a feature that will let you know about recent MG/YA/NA book related news. I'll post about articles from the publishing industry, cover reveals, discussions from fellow bloggers, the latest tv/movie news, and giveaways that you're hosting. Publishing:
Rights Report 1:
  • Every Exquisite Thing - Matthew Quick (It centers on Nanette O'Hare, a high school girl who is given a mysterious out-of-print cult classic by a beloved teacher; the book sparks the rebel within Nanette, but she quickly learns there will be a high price to pay. It's slated for spring 2016; the Weinstein Co. has acquired film rights. Little ,Brown).
  • The Thing About Jellyfish - Ali Benjamin (It tells of a 12-year-old girl who becomes convinced that her estranged best friend's drowning was caused by a rare jellyfish sting, and is determined to find out the truth even if it means traveling to Australia, alone, to prove it. Publication is scheduled for fall 2015; Little, Brown).
  • Not As We Know It -Tom Avery (It's the story of twin brothers – one sick with cystic fibrosis, the other healthy – who find a mysterious creature on the beach. Publication is planned for summer 2016; Random House's Schwartz & Wade Books).
Julie Leung's debut MICE OF THE ROUND TABLE, a retelling of the Camelot story from the point of view of the court's humblest creatures, pitched as drawing inspiration from Brian Jacques's Redwall and Arthurian myths like T.H. White's The Once and Future King, to Harper Children's.

Veronica Rossi's RIDERS, the story of four modern-day teens brought together by an enigmatic girl, who unwittingly become incarnations of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, tasked with protecting mankind against an ancient evil; told through the eyes of a young army Ranger candidate who becomes the embodiment of War, and SEEKER, told from the perspective of the visionary girl with whom the Ranger falls in love, to Melissa Frain at Tor for publication in Winter 2016 and 2017.

Feiwel and Friends goes large in its deal for Cecelia Ahern’s YA debut.

  • Quiet Power: The Secret Strengths of Introverts - Susan Cain (based on her bestseller for adults, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking. The new version will focus on the strengths and challenges of being an introverted child and teenager. Publication is set for May 2015; Dial).

Awards: The Top Ten YA books from YALSA for 2014 have been announced. Eleanor and Park seems to be a consistent contender on so many lists. Also here are the nominees for the 2015 Carnegie Medal and the nominees for the 2015 Kate Greenaway Medal.

A new trailer for Mockingjay!! I may have already added this last week, but who cares. Also here are the world premiere details for THG: Mockingjay. Also more marketing details were announced for Mockingjay, including “District Voices.”

Paramount has optioned the Wattpad sensation, After, by Anna Todd.

From what I understood last week, it wasn’t 100% that there would be even more HP films after Fantastic Beasts, but this week, it’s confirmed that Warner Brothers is planning a spin-off.

An Australian producer has just optioned Abbi Glines’s “While It Lasts.”

Ron Livingston has joined the cast of the 5th Wave.

Weinstein co. has optioned Matthew Quick’s latest novel (which was announced above).
